Pink's Monthly Makeover

Meet Mrs. O'Nan:
August means back to school time, which for many students means brand- new school clothes, school supplies and an updated look for their new school year. This month the students won't be the only ones coming back to school with a makeover, but the principal will as well. Amanda O'Nan is the principal of Hilton Head High School, and if anyone deserves a day of pampering, she does. After a long and complicated pregnancy, Amanda is returning to school this year with two beautiful identical twin girls, Lilli Grace and Abby Kate. Although Amanda has been hoping and praying to have twin girls for years, the stress of taking care of two babies along with running a high school is enough to overwhelm anyone. "Any spare time I have I want to be with the girls, and I feel guilty taking time to do anything for myself." Well Amanda, we are here to give you a guilt-free day of pampering- you deserve it Mrs. O'Nan!

Making the Grade
With their charming staff and newly remodeled, gorgeous chic salon, Le Spa, located in the Shops at Sea Pines Center, was the perfect location to provide Amanda with a true spa makeover experience. Angela M. Scharver, hair designer, began by updating Amanda's hair. Amanda had never colored her hair before, and admitted to only cutting it once a year. "I think the last time I had my hair done was my own prom!" Amanda laughed. Angela decided to leave Amanda's hair low-maintenance and fairly natural to match her lifestyle needs, but she added some highlights and lowlights with Redken color to give her hair great dimension and movement. After letting the color process, Angela used several products from Eufora, a natural and organic line, to restore health and shine to Amanda's hair. Angela loved Amanda's long and thick hair, so for the cut she simply reshaped and thinned out some of the bulk to make the new color pop. After a quick blow dry with a round brush, Amanda had a brand new, up-to-date classy look!

A+ Style
Next it was time for makeup. Amanda has a naturally clear and tan complexion, due to her partial Native American heritage, so only minimal makeup was necessary. "Growing up, my dad didn't let me wear makeup until I was 16 so I never got into the habit of wearing it," Amanda said. Kirsten Powers, esthetician, decided to play off of Amanda's naturally beautiful look and use the makeup to enhance some of her best features. She used Kroma, an organic and botanical brand of make up that is also age-defying. She began with a skin primer, followed with a foundation in Sunkissed, then added a subtle blush in Apricot to bring some color to her cheeks. Amanda's eyes are a beautiful deep green, so Kirsten combined a frosted beige with a hint of mossy green to make the color stand out even more. She finished by defining the eyes with black eyeliner and black gel mascara. Finally Kirsten dusted on some light pink lip gloss with nude lip liner and Amanda was ready to go!

To complete her new look, Amanda threw on a stunning printed patio dress and exquisite gold earrings from Palmettoes, also located in the Shops at Sea Pines Center. The bold colors were a great end-of-summer fit that perfectly complimented her hair and dark complexion. With a new look and precious baby girls, back to school has never looked so promising for this principal.
