Pink's Monthly Makeover

Meet Angelina
Standing at only 4'11", it is hard to believe that a tiny woman like Angelina LoGrasso can have such a large heart. For the last three years Angelina has been growing her hair out for the organization "Locks of Love", which provides hair pieces to individuals who have lost their hair due to a long-term medical diagnosis. The mission of this organization hits close to home for Angelina, as she fought and beat breast cancer in 1995 and remembers daily how fortunate she is that it has never returned. She was inspired to grow her hair by a close friend who has been fighting Ovarian Cancer for 25 years. "I never liked my hair long, but I really wanted to do this so I could make a difference to someone," Angelina said.

To begin this dramatic change, Whitney Steed from Classic Cuts braided Angelina's hair down the back, then cut right before the braid. A total of 11 inches was cut to be sent to "Locks of Love"!

Hip & Modern New Do
For the remaining hair, Angelina insisted on a hip and modern hair cut, and Whitney was happy to oblige. For a hip flare, she decided to cut the front asymmetrical to accentuate Angelina's natural white streak, which she is very proud of. "The streak began growing when I was about 30. At first I dyed it to match the rest of my hair, now I dye everything except the streak! I think it is a great character trait," Angelina said.

To freshen up the back, Whitney cut several layers to create a stacked appearance. She took great care in softening and thinning out the bulk, so it fell nicely. The new cut promised to be flattering both curly and straight, and very low-maintenance to boot.

To conclude the look, Whitney dyed Angelina's hair (all but the white streak) a rich red-brown color using Redken Cover Fusions dye, washed it out with Redken Color Extend Shampoo and Conditioner, then blew it dry and whisked away the frizz using a flat-iron. Angelina was amazed at the change and could not stop raving about her new look. "I never would have thought to cut my hair like this but I absolutely love it! It is very becoming. Whitney is truly an artist!"

Make Up
After Angelina's hair was done, Josephine Bredice took over to bring a fresh look to her face. She began by applying a warm compress to Angelina's face to open up her pores and cleanse, followed by a cold compress to close the pores, making the skin more vibrant. Josephine used a combination of Mac and Bare Minerals cosmetics, beginning with a tinted primer, SPF-15 foundation and a highlighter in Hush Frost, she added color to Angelina's cheeks using blush in Plum Foolery. For the eyes, Josephine combined Light Over Dark mineral shadow with Cut-to-Fit accent over her lids. As a final touch, she added a little Fresh Green Mix to brighten things up. She concluded with a touch of Very Black mascara and eyeliner, and a dab of Revlon Color Stay lipstick in Stellar Sunrise.

Voila!
After throwing on a charming fall dress and stunning necklace and earring combination from Island Girl Frills & Fancies, Angelina was ready to face the world. Over the next few months she will be travelling to France, Las Vegas and Buffalo, and is thrilled to have a stunning a new look to accompany all her adventures. "I can't express how thankful I am. It took me three years to grow out my hair, but I am so happy I did," then with a pause, she added, "I think I'll do it again."
