Marvelous Margaritas
It’s All in the Mix
June 2025 Issue

Margaritas are officially in season!
And seriously, with one of the first nice days to sit outside and enjoy the sunshine, I decided to task my friends with a margarita mix tasting. I have always been a die-hard fan of the tried-and-true Jose Cuervo margarita mix, but with boutique brands popping up everywhere, I wanted to try some of what I consider “newer ones” to the market.
To make it extra fun, I bought three mixes, wrapped each one in a brown paper sack, and labeled them A, B, and C. No one knew what they were drinking. The one thing that remained the same for the taste test was Lunazul Tequila. Lunazul has been a Pink Partini sponsor for several years, so not only do we love and appreciate them as our partner, but also as a quality tequila—it’s truly is delicious. Not all tequilas are created equally. Did you know some of the largest brands out there are not made from 100% agave? But Lunazul is, and you can taste the difference.
3rd Place:
Fever Tree Classic Margarita Mix
This one had a couple No. 1 votes, but many thought it was too tart and did not have enough of that golden depth that makes a margarita balanced. I’m sorry to say it was not a fan favorite, though we absolutely love and recommend Fever Tree Premium Indian Tonic Water for the absolute best gin and tonics out there.
2nd Place:
PureZero Margarita & Cocktail Mix
Coming in at a surprising 2nd place was PureZero Margarita &
Cocktail Mix. Having no clue this was a sugar-free entry, several tasters chose this as their No.1. When it was revealed it has only 5 calories with zero sugar, plant-based sweetener, and all-natural ingredients, my friends were pleasantly shocked. We’re talking sugar-free, gluten-free, and keto-friendly while still offering a nice, full taste.
Winner!
Tres Agaves Organic Classic
Lime Margarita Mix
Almost everyone agreed Tres Agave Classic Lime Organic Margarita Mix was the best. It had the perfect balance of sweet and tart and went down smoothly and quickly. It is what a good margarita should taste like, and it’s organic with simple, natural ingredients. Tres Agaves Margarita Mix and Lunazul are like a perfect marriage on the day of the wedding. That part when the bride and groom take each of their candles and light a bigger one to symbolize becoming one, but leave each of their candles burning to symbolize, we-make-a-great-marriage-but-we-remain-
strong-as-individuals, too. That is the Tres Agaves Margarita Mix and Lunazul margarita—all the candles burning with everyone getting happily lit!
