What is a compounding pharmacist?
A compounding pharmacist specializes in making customized medications to meet unique, individual needs. For example, we make special dosage forms such as dye free or corn free capsules for those with allergies, along with flavored suspensions or capsules for your pet. We also compound medications with specific dosages for individual patients, for example: Hormone replacement creams dosed specifically for you based on your labs, as well as topical pain creams formulated based on the cause of your pain and severity. We meet the needs of patients for medications that can’t be found in a retail pharmacy.

STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) is so popular in schools now to get girls involved in these subjects. When did you know you were a STEM girl?
I knew from around the age of 5 that I loved math and trying to figure out how things work. My thirst for knowledge continued to intensify with age. I had to know how the body works, what makes chemicals react and how does a pill know where to go to alleviate a headache? This thirst was all part of what guided me to become a chemist and pharmacist. Listening to my inner self, led me to my passion.

What are three of your life mottos?

What doesn’t kill me makes me stronger; She believed she could so she did; and YOLO (you only live once)!

What part of your life do you take on a “no-fear” attitude?
I am fearless when it comes to taking on new challenges. I thrive when facing the unknown, be it taking on buying a business, or traveling internationally alone. I am truly fulfilled when I set “crazy goals” and am able to find ways to achieve them.

If you could educate everyone in America on one thing, what would it be?
I would teach the importance of maintaining good health. It is important to start taking care of yourself at a young age. Keeping your body and mind healthy is vital to living a long and fulfilling life. This is a lifelong journey, not one that starts later in life as you begin to develop health issues. I truly believe “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.”

What possession could you not live without?
It would be extremely hard to part with my purse and shoe collection. They are a part of me. I love to accessorize and coordinate. They help me build confidence in my appearance and myself.

What three things drive you batty?
Crazy aggressive drivers, people who insist they know everything and working inside when it’s perfect beach weather outside.

What’s your guilty pleasure?
Red wine and dark chocolate, for their health benefits of course :)

What is the best thing and worst thing about being a business owner?
The best thing about owning my own business is being able to set my own standards and goals and finding ways to achieve them while helping others. It’s an awesome feeling doing what you love and making a difference in others’ lives at the same time. The worst thing is trying to maintain a balance between organization and time management.

If you were granted one wish, what would it be?
Better health for my family. My family is my rock. They have always supported me and have continually helped me along this journey. They have given faith and encouragement in all I have set out to do. They are my inspiration.

What are three qualities you admire most in others?

Inner strength, integrity and faith

I am currently roaring about…

Living life to the fullest! My goals are: To make the most of every opportunity I’m given; Make strives for personal growth and development; Enjoy life and be a positive example for others around me; and lastly to always be thankful for family, friends, and my faith in God.
