What does great hospitality mean to you?
Great hospitality begins with genuine gratitude. Of all the places someone could choose to spend an evening, they’ve chosen us, and I never take that for granted. I want guests to know we’re not simply here to provide a service, but genuinely grateful for the opportunity to host them.

Of course, food, service, and atmosphere all matter, but what stays with people is how they felt while they were with us.

Sometimes it’s greeting a “regular” by name, recognizing a special occasion, or understanding the delicate balance between being attentive and being overbearing. Every table is different, and great hospitality comes from recognizing those differences. It’s about anticipating needs, paying attention to the little things, and making guests feel truly appreciated.

What are you currently obsessed with outside of work?
Sunshine, saltwater, and my family and friends. Some things never change, a day at the beach or an afternoon on the boat is about as good as it gets.

My friends and I also have a weekly tradition of trying a different restaurant together. I love seeing the creativity behind a menu, discovering a new favorite dish, and enjoying an evening when I’m the guest for a change. Although after years in hospitality, I still can’t help appreciating the work behind a great dining experience. We usually finish with dessert and espresso martinis. In my opinion, that’s a perfect night.

What’s your favorite holiday, and are you the host
or the one who just shows up hungry?
Thanksgiving and Christmas are my favorites, and I’m definitely the host. Our restaurant closes for both, so the celebrations move to my house. Growing up, our home was always the gathering place for family and friends. Since losing my parents, continuing this tradition has become especially meaningful. I love having a house full of people for the holidays and wouldn’t have it any other way.

What’s the first thing you teach a new employee?
Before anything else, I promise new employees they are not expected to know everything on day one. We ask a lot from our team, but we also understand what it takes to learn. I tell them, “You don’t have to pass the final exam on the first day of class.” Once people realize they have time to grow, they relax, trust the training, and find their confidence.

Then we focus on creating great experiences, not just completing tasks. We teach employees to look for what we call “micro experiences.”: small opportunities to make a personal connection or do something thoughtful. Anticipating a need, orchestrating a perfectly timed gesture, or having a sincere conversation can change the entire tone of a visit. Individually, those moments may seem small, but together they can matter as much as the meal.

Are you a homebody after work or the life of the party?
Life of the party, without hesitation! You’d think spending my days surrounded by people would have me ready for some peace and quiet, but that’s never been my style. I love good company, great conversation, and a spontaneous night out. If friends are getting together for drinks or a bite to eat, you can usually count me in. I’ve always enjoyed being social, and I don’t see that changing any time soon.

In your experience, what makes a party memorable?
I love a good, themed party, and some of my funniest ones have been football parties. I go all out with football-themed appetizers, decorations, and all the little details. Give me a fun theme, great food, and good company—that’s a recipe for a party people will talk about.
