In January 2015, the Hilton Head Plastic Surgery and Prescription Skincare & Massage team joined forces with Pink magazine to offer a 2015 New Year, New You contest. Ladies were encouraged to nominate themselves, friends or relatives and two lucky, deserving winners were selected for a $5,000 makeover. Along with Suzan Weber, Tenneal Brightenstein has undergone a fantastic transformation in the past few months. Read on to learn about her amazine makeover.

And the Winner is...Tenneal Brightenstein

Looking at Tenneal Brightenstein as she poses for “after” picture, it is difficult to imagine that four short months ago—shortly after she won the New Year, New You Makeover—she was shlumped in a chair in the office of Hilton Head Plastic Surgery admitting she didn’t have a beauty routine. She used bar soap and body lotion for her facial moisturizer.

With a house full of six children and a firefighter husband, it is easy to understand that Tenneal taking care of Tenneal is very low on the list of to-dos in the Brightenstein household. As one of our makeover winners, things were about to change!

Anneliza Itkor and Mandy Fulmer, medical aestheticians at Hilton Head Plastic Surgery, had a fun time putting together a comprehensive plan that took Tenneal from a little drab to absolutely fab! Anneliza executed a CoolSculpting assessment and treatment that helped banish the stubborn fat that lingered after Tenneal’s multiple pregnancies. Mandy helped walked her through the Obagi Nu-derm skin care system.

Tenneal was amazed that after 16 weeks her brown spots had faded significantly and her skin had a softness and glow well worth maintaining. One of her favorite makeover results was her lashes. After a couple of months on Latisse, the word luscious didn’t do justice to her “fabulashes.”

Tenneal sat down with Dr. David Reid, owner of Hilton Head Plastic Surgery and board certified plastic surgeon for 20 years. He explained how a young woman, like herself, can benefit from Botox, not only to smooth out fine lines and wrinkles in the forehead and between the brows, but as a preventive measure to keep pesky lines from forming in the first place. Tenneal was a little nervous about trying injectibles, but the results more than convinced her; she was thrilled!

The next chapter in the New Year, New You Makeover was hair. Tenneal shared that she generally had her daughters color her hair and she hadn’t had a cut in months. Missi Collela, at Enliten Salon, started with a full color correction that took her from brassy to sassy. She then designed a cut that looked sleek and polished and didn’t require a lot of style time so Tenneal can easily maintain it on her own.

The finishing touch was a makeup lesson with Anneliza. Using Jane Iredale Mineral Makeup, Annaliza designed a quick-to-apply, fresh summer look that showed off Tenneal’s beautiful blue eyes and incredible smile.

As an extra treat, Copper Penny graciously styled Tenneal for her photo shoot, making her look like a fashion superstar. It’s been a great journey for Tenneal. She learned it’s not impossible to carve out some time for herself, and most importantly, feeling great about herself reflects positively on her children.

The first chapter in the “New You, New Year Makeover” has been a huge success. Join us next month when we reveal our second winner, Suzan Weber.
