About the Cover Artist — Viktor Bevanda
by Lindsay Gifford

Each month Pink Magazine is fortunate to feature incredible artwork by talented artists from far and wide—and this month is no exception. In fact, we’re honored to feature the artwork of Viktor Bevanda—a 17-year-old artist from Royal Palm Beach, Florida—and his awe-inspiring story of overcoming the odds to share his talent with the world.
We were excited to connect with Viktor (nicknamed Vichy) and his team—The Vichy’s Art Team—to help spread his story. Comprised of his family who are artistically talented in their own ways, his mother, father, grandmother and brother are all incredible supporters of Viktor and his dreams. A child prodigy, Viktor is gifted with innate artistic sensibility and talent…in the words of his brother, “Viktor sees a much more beautiful world than the rest of us.”
Originally from Serbia, Viktor cannot speak and was diagnosed with Autism at an early age, but he hasn’t let his limitations in comprehension and verbal abilities limit the pursuit of his talent. He and his family moved to the United States when he was just 10 years old. Viktor’s artistic talent was prolific from an early age. “I was always an artist. Even as a little kid, I was always working on some sort of art—from cutouts of favorite cartoons to actual artwork. I’ve always had this talent, however my mother was the first person who noticed it and guided me in the right direction,” expressed Viktor.
Animals are Viktor’s favorite subjects to capture on canvas. He enjoys portraying them as fun, warm, and colorful. “Colors are the way I think. I express my thoughts and feelings through colors. My vibrant use of colors showcases emotions and adds character to my artwork,” expressed Viktor. Created using primarily oil pastels (and some watercolor and mosaics), his pieces usually only take an hour to create and feature fun names like: Randy Rooster, Cream Puff, Mr. Crab, Owl-exander, all featured here.
Viktor is no stranger to recognition, he won an Emmy at The 47th Boston-New England Emmy Awards for “Viktor’s Masterpiece”, a story about Viktor and his achievements through recording an episode for a show called “Chaos and Kindness”. Winning this was everything to Viktor and helped spread the message to the world that Autism is something that isn’t slowing him down or stopping him—it is something that empowers him.
Viktor’s story of resilience is a testament to what can be achieved when talent is nurtured, individuality is embraced, and challenges are met with determination. All profits from Viktor’s art go towards his education, therapy, and art supplies, as well as donations to charities that support individuals with Autism. When asked one thing he’d like to share about supporting those with Autism, he conveyed, “Autism is something that doesn’t prohibit you or stop you from doing things but helps you push through to achieve your goals and dreams.”
A beautiful watercolor, Pink’s cover piece this month is titled “The Beauty of Woman, Art 1”. It was created to share a message, empowering women and showing how they have power in this world. An apt message for all of our Pink readers.
