Whether you are just visiting or a true local, one of the most popular questions to hear is, “Where is the hottest spot in town?” Well, do I have a new one for you! Java Burrito Company is serving up a fresh, fast casual Burrito Bar and Coffee Bar that is making a new name for farm-to-table food!

Java Burrito Co. is new to the Hilton Head scene with less than a year under their belt; nevertheless they are making waves on the island. Their “Delicious. Fresh. Goodness” attitude is taking farm-to-table to a whole new level. Located in the North Village of the Village at Wexford, Java Burrito Co. is serving breakfast, lunch and dinner along with a full service Specialty Coffee Bar stocked with locally roasted beans and organic milk products. The fun farm-chic atmosphere begs you to sit down and enjoy all that they have to offer for a true Java Burrito Co. experience!

Owner Michael Fekete, a former professional golfer, began paying close attention to targeting healthier foods and good quality ingredients in order to better fuel his golf game. Little did he know that his healthier habits and genuine passion for great food would lead to an entirely different business venture. Java Burrito is a family owned and operated business, upon walking in you may see Michael’s mother and father, Daina and Alan Wasserstrom, as well as his fiancé, Fredrika Hakansson, buzzing about. Michael said, “It truly does take all of us to run this business and we each bring different things to the table contributing to its diversity.” Michael’s family has been involved in different aspects of the restaurant business for over 100 years, but this is their first stab at opening an original concept and they are doing it the right way!

Michael and Fredrika explained that while living in South Florida, they were immersed in the large Cuban and Colombian influences regarding food and coffee. Burritos and Tacos are staples in Central and South America, which happens to be where most coffee beans are grown. The collaboration seemed like a natural fit. Many customers enjoy Java Burrito Co. coffee throughout the day or a delectable specialty coffee after their meal.

Since working in the coffee industry, Fredrika is passionate about making the coffee bar the best it can be! The coffee bar sources USDA organic dairy and dairy substitutes, as well as products using only natural cane sugar as the sweetener (No high fructose corn syrup). Java Burrito’s Coffee Bar creates drinks using their private label blends, locally roasted by the Savannah Coffee Roasters. The menu has something for everyone, boasting everything from brewed private label coffee to its signature Mexican Mocha.

Passion and quality doesn’t stop with the coffee bar, Java Burrito Co. has an organic attitude for all of their products. The Java Burrito philosophy promotes positive change within the sustainable farming initiative, supporting farms and individuals with like standards. Not only do they seek out the freshest local products, they are also tenacious about supporting the community at the same time. Michael said, “When you buy food or coffee from us, you aren’t just supporting one family business, you are supporting several family businesses throughout the region and that is what sustainability is all about.”

Java Burrito Co. prides themselves on sourcing quality ingredients and preparing fresh food daily. The burrito bar offers much more than just your ordinary burrito, bowl, salad, or tacos. All of the protein options are humanely raised, cage free, and grass fed, accompanied by organic locally sourced in-season vegetables. The staff can tell you the farms where their products are coming from!

Many nights Java Burrito Co. hosts live music, which creates a captivating atmosphere to drink and dine; check out their Facebook page for the latest music schedule. While listening to local talent, Java Burrito offers a great wine list, beer selection, mini spirits, festive champagne options, as well as soft drinks and Mexican Coca-Cola.
