About the Artist - Erisha Rubingh
Erisha Rubingh considers herself a “fashion and lifestyle illustrator” and is most inspired by style in every form—fashion, food, décor, etc. Her illustrations reflect the naturally bubbly personality Erisha exudes in all things. If she had to describe her illustrations in one word, it would be “Exuberant! Or Vivacious! It’s hard to pick just one!” Although she didn’t always know she wanted to be an illustrator, when she initially launched a creativity blog in 2012, her vision began to feverishly flourish. “I think that was when I really realized that illustration was what I loved to do. I began illustrating furiously every day,” she said. Since then, she has developed a career as a freelance illustrator, as well as curating a paper product business called “A Thing Created Illustration.”
Erisha has been featured by many big-name bloggers like “The College Prepster,” “Rarely Taken Seriously” and “Castle Foundations,” just to name a few. Living in Seattle, one of the places that most inspires her illustrations is Pike Place Market, where she finds the fresh, local flowers, food and smell of the bay intoxicating. She produces her illustrations using Arches hot-press watercolor paper and usually gouache paint, a water-based medium similar to watercolor, is more opaque and gives each painting more vibrancy. When asked if she had to choose a favorite piece, Erisha said, “It changes all the time, but I always love my vintage traveler illustration (Can be seen and purchased in her Etsy shop as “A Very Vintage Adventure”). “She combines some of my favorite things: retro style, travel and colorful silk scarves,” she said, referring to the piece.
Having only taken one high-school art class, Erisha is basically a self-taught artist, who is taking the illustrating world by storm. Her humbling spirit is a fresh and welcome approach to what is definitely few and far between in today’s society. “My illustrations are always very colorful and detailed because I am all about inspiring people to celebrate beauty every day in the world around them! I hope people feel uplifted and inspired.”
One of her wildest dreams is to partner with some of the major names in the fashion industry, as well as develop and grow her business to become a more successful stationery and paper product designer. “Wherever I am, I hope to be creating beautiful art.”
